Psalms 90

God’s Eternity and the Brevity of Human Life.

A Prayer of
Deut 33:1
Moses, the man of God.

1 Lord, You have been our
Or hiding place; some ancient mss place of refuge
,
cdwelling place in all generations.
2 Before dthe mountains were born
Or And
Or You fgave birth to the earth and the world,
Even gfrom everlasting to everlasting, You are God.

3 You hturn mortals back into dust
And say, “Return, you sons of mankind.”
4 For ia thousand years in Your sight
Are like jyesterday when it passes by,
Or And
Or like a lwatch in the night.
5 You mhave
Or flooded
swept them away like a flood, they
Lit become asleep
,
pfall asleep;
In the morning they are like qgrass that
Or passes away
sprouts anew.
6 In the morning it sflourishes and
Or passes away
sprouts anew;
Toward evening it uwilts and vwithers away.

7 For we have been wconsumed by Your anger,
And we have been terrified by Your wrath.
8 You have xplaced our guilty deeds before You,
Our yhidden sins in the light of Your presence.
9 For zall our days have dwindled away in Your fury;
We have finished our years like a
Or whisper
sigh.
10 As for the days of our
Lit years
life,
Lit in them are
they contain seventy years,
Or if due to strength, adeighty years,
Yet their pride is only aetrouble and tragedy;
For it quickly passes, and we afdisappear.
11 Who
Or knows
understands the ahpower of Your anger
And Your fury, according to the aifear
Lit of You
that is due You?
12 So akteach us to number our days,
That we may
Lit bring in
,
ampresent to You a heart of wisdom.

13 Do anreturn, Lord; aohow long will it be?
And
Or repent in regard to
be aqsorry for Your servants.
14 arSatisfy us in the morning with Your graciousness,
That we may assing for joy and rejoice all our days.
15 atMake us glad
Or as many days as
according to the days You have afflicted us,
And the avyears we have seen
Or trouble
evil.
16 Let Your axwork appear to Your servants
And Your aymajesty
Or upon
to their children.
17 May the bakindness of the Lord our God be upon us;
And
Or give permanence to
,
bcconfirm for us the work of our hands;
Yes,
Or give permanence to
confirm the work of our hands.
